Bucksville manuscript town cancel on stampless folded letter Dateline July 13, 1835 Tuscaloosa.  Letter from Francis Gallant to William A Alexander.  Mentions the names of his 8 children.  This is an early example of Alabama postal history although very little is known or recorded about Alabama Post Offices. NORTH GROTON - New London County - 1828 to Present

1829 North Groton Postmaster Free Frank. 

Dateline North Groton 1829 from Postmaster Christopher Newton.  North Groton was established (also possibly as Calais Spring) March 6, 1828 with John Spicer as the first postmaster. The name was changed to Ledyard on June 29, 1836 and Ledyard was discontinued October 31, 1903.

Unlisted in all Connecticut manuscript town cancel references including ASCC.  Needing additional research although probably Unique and a Newly Discovered manuscript town cancel.

Scarce stampless cover with outstanding Georgia Land Lottery content.  1832 Manuscript town cancel Butler's. GA. Dateline of the letter August 11, 1832.  The Two page letter is from H. C. Hamer  to his brother Robert Hamer.

The 2nd page of the letter describes in some detail how Hamer is participating in the Georgia Lottery of Land & Land Gold Mine Lottery of 1832.  These lands were being auctioned by the State of Georgia to dispose of lands taken from the Cherokee and Creek Indians.  This lottery along with the 1832 Gold Lottery (see link below), gave the Cherokee Nation to Georgia settlers and sparked the Trail of Tears - (see link below).  A great Georgia historical item.
